06/26/10 & 6/28/10 Acucela to Present at Tokyo Medical and Dental U. and Osaka Institute of Technology

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, will present at a seminar on legal issues over medical practice and pharmaceutical innovation at the Tokyo Medical and Dental University and also at Osaka Institute of Technology. He will introduce Acucela’s technology and patent portfolio and discuss intellectual property protection in the biotech industry compared to other high tech industries.

 

06/25/10 - 06/28/10 Acucela to present at BIT's 1st Annual World Congress of NeuroTalk 2010

 

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, will present a talk titled “Human Visual Cycle Modulation: New Concept to Treat Age Related Macular Degeneration” at BIT's 1st Annual World Congress of NeuroTalk 2010 in Singapore on June 25. The theme of NeuroTalk 2010 is “From Nervous Functions to Treatment”. The mission of this congress is to promote neuroscience, increase communication and facilitate collaboration between investigators throughout the world.

Katherine A. Voss, director of clinical data and trial management, will present the data management viewpoint in the session, “A High-quality Clinical Study: Whose Job Is It Anyway?”, that addresses how different groups’ GCP-defined roles & responsibilities (IRB, ClinOps, CDM) contribute to a high quality clinical trial.

 

06/07/10 - 06/08/10 Acucela to Present at Neuron to Synapse 2010 Meeting in New York

 

Ian L. Scott Ph.D., senior director of chemistry & biology, will present the concept of visual cycle modulation as an approach to the treatment of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and introduce ACU-4429, Acucela’s lead candidate for the treatment of this neurodegenerative disease.

Ryo Kubota, M.D., Ph.D., Acucela’s chairman, president and chief executive officer was nominated as one of the Emerging Pharmaceutical Industry Leaders for 2010 by Pharmaceutical Executive magazine. The Emerging Leaders program recognizes professional accomplishments among the next generation of executives. Candidates for this award are age 45 or younger and display a track record of leadership in managing projects, operations, or people in private sector companies with a mission to develop and deliver medicines to patients.
