Clinical Trials
Acucela is focused on the development of novel drugs for the treatment of blinding eye diseases, which we are working to make available to patients as rapidly as possible. Our development decisions are based on rigorous science, a growing body of clinical data that is furthering our understanding of the biology of eye disease and with the counsel of world-renowned experts in ophthalmology.

For specific information about clinical trials of Acucela’s products, please visit clinicaltrials.gov (search for "Acucela"), which offers up-to-date information for locating federally and privately supported clinical trials for a wide range of diseases and conditions.

Acucela launched the ENVISION (Evaluating a Novel VISION treatment for AMD) Clarity Trial, part of Acucela’s clinical program evaluating the investigational oral treatment ACU-4429, in patients with dry age-related macular degeneration (dry AMD) in January 2010. The ENVISION Clarity Trial is part of a clinical program testing an oral medication called ACU-4429 as a treatment for dry AMD. AMD is the leading cause of vision loss in the United States in people over the age of 50, yet there are no therapies currently approved to treat dry AMD, the most common form of the disease. For more information, please refer to the ENVISION Clarity Trial website
